About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent CHPP Maintenance to join the team at Kestrel Mine and lead the maintenance function across our Coal Handling and Preparation Plant.

Reporting to the Manager CHPP, you’ll ensure maintenance activities are planned and executed safely and effectively, while supporting the reliability, availability and performance of the CHPP.

Working closely with CHPP Operations, Engineering, Planning and site stakeholders, you’ll provide leadership to the maintenance team, set priorities and drive a proactive approach to plant maintenance. You’ll combine strong technical capability with practical leadership, using plant performance and maintenance insights to identify opportunities, improve reliability and support safe, consistent production.

Why you’ll love working here:

  • A permanent role on a site with a strong future – long mine life and room to grow.
  • Monday to Friday or a 9-day fortnight, the choice is yours.
  • Great pay and perks - Including competitive incentives, housing options, and salary packaging.
  • Health-first mindset - With our award-winning Health Program and subsidised private health insurance.
  • Supported to grow - We’ll back your development through tailored programs like our award-winning ‘Unleashed’ Leadership Program and study assistance.
  •  A culture that walks the talk - Respect, agility, commitment and collaborating as one, aren’t just values - they’re how we operate, every day.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by:

  • Providing visible safety leadership and ensuring maintenance activities are undertaken in line with site standards, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Leading and developing the CHPP maintenance team, building capability, accountability and a strong team culture.
  • Overseeing the planning, scheduling and execution of planned and unplanned maintenance activities across the CHPP.
  • Working closely with Operations, Engineering and Planning teams to prioritise maintenance activities and support safe, reliable plant performance.
  • Monitoring equipment performance and maintenance outcomes to identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Driving continuous improvement and supporting initiatives that improve plant availability, productivity and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Managing maintenance resources, contractors and costs to support effective delivery against operational and budget requirements.
  • Supporting shutdown planning and execution, ensuring work is appropriately scoped, resourced and coordinated.
  • Providing coaching, guidance and technical support to maintenance leaders and team members.
  • Maintaining effective communication across the CHPP and broader site to ensure maintenance priorities, risks and performance are understood.

About you:

  • Demonstrated maintenance leadership experience within a CHPP, mineral processing, mining or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fixed plant maintenance, reliability and maintenance planning and execution.
  • A relevant trade qualification or tertiary qualification in an engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong safety leadership with the ability to identify and effectively manage operational and maintenance risk.
  • Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
  • The ability to balance planned maintenance, breakdown response and operational priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience managing contractors, maintenance costs and resources.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Engineering and other site functions.
  • A collaborative and practical leadership style, with the ability to build capability and bring people together around shared priorities.
