About the company:

Kestrel is one of the world’s largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually.  Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process.  The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD.  Our team’s capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation.  We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role: 

An exciting opportunity is available for an Administrator to join the Engineering team at Kestrel.  This opportunity is open to both experienced administrators and entry-level candidates who have a strong work ethic, detail orientated, willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

Reporting directly to the Manager Engineering, in this role you will be based on-site at Kestrel Mine and will have the flexibility of working either a Monday-to-Friday schedule or a 9-day fortnight.

As our Administrator, you will provide essential administrative support to the Engineering team and act as the primary point of contact for our electrical and mechanical apprentices on site, managing their rotations and ensuring smooth coordination.  This is a great opportunity to grow your career in the mining industry while being part of a supportive and dynamic team.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by: 

  • Providing a diverse range of administrative support to the Engineering team.
  • Being the primary point of contact for the apprentices, managing their rotations and supporting their delivery to training schedules.
  • Assisting with scheduling, record-keeping and reporting for engineering activities.
  • End to end coordination of meeting and other events.
  • Procurement activities such as raising requisitions, purchase orders and receipting goods.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support the engineering teams operations.

 

About you:

  • Previous administration experience or entry-level candidate eager to commence their career at Kestrel.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with apprentices, supervisors, leaders and the broader team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Previous experience in the mining or engineering industry is desirable but not essential.
