Students, Apprentices and Graduates - Kestrel’s Future
Kestrel offers a range of entry level opportunities for either students, apprentices or graduates. We provide a structured career path with on-the-job training and mentoring from some of the best around.
We partner with WorkPac for our apprenticeship programs and our intake is held mid year to commence the following year. We offer the following apprenticeships (which may vary from year to year);
- Electricians
- Boilermakers
- Fitters
Why You Should Do It?
The apprenticeship programs involves a mix of onsite and TAFE training. We welcome mature age candidates as well. Candidates are required to have completed year 10 as a minimum prior to commencing the apprenticeship program.

Every year Kestrel will take on 2nd or 3rd year vacation students for a 12 week on-the-job work experience from end of November to end of February. This gives you the opportunity to use your theoretical knowledge in a real working mine environment. This is paid work so you will earn while you are learning. Recruitment for Vacation Students commences towards the end of July each year.
Kestrel offers a structured and professional on-the-job training for Graduates. Kestrel offers a 2 year program and it focuses on leadership and management skills as well as giving you the opportunity to gain practical industry knowledge. Graduate opportunities are available in many disciplines including (but not limited to);
- Engineering (mechanical, electrical and mining)
- Health and Safety
- Environmental
- Accounting
- Human Resources
Recruitment for graduates commences towards the end of July each year.
