About our company: 

Kestrel is one of the world’s largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually.  Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process.  The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD.  Our team’s capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation.  We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role: 

We are currently seeking a confident and driven individual to join our Strategic Sourcing Team.  The Contracts Officer will report to the Principal Contracts & Supply and will be based on site at Kestrel mine.  In this role you will work closely with both our internal stakeholders and external contractors to facilitate and support the delivery of all contracting requirements for the inbound supply chain.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by: 

  • Leading and managing vendor onboarding end to end lifecycle.
  • Leading and managing the contract end to end lifecycle.
  • Coordinating contract performance reviews with stakeholders
  • Coordinating Contractor monthly bonuses.
  • Providing commercial support to operational teams (on site).
  • Driving positive commercial outcomes for the Company by using your negotiating and influencing skills.

About you:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ contract management experience or relevant tertiary qualifications in either commerce, business management or a related discipline
  • Ability to lead negotiations for commercial agreements with guidance provided where necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to build and foster positive relationships.
  • Residing in Emerald or willing to relocate.
  • Experienced in operating Microsoft office.
