Are you passionate about building a career in the mining industry and ready to take the next step in your studies?
The NEXTGEN Scholarship Program supports motivated students pursuing a mining-related qualification who want to gain valuable industry experience alongside their studies.
Through financial assistance, paid vacation work and industry mentoring, the program helps students build practical experience and a strong foundation for a future career in mining.
What does the scholarship offer?
Successful applicants will receive:
- $10,000 per year in financial support, paid in two instalments each year, commencing in 2027
- Paid vacation work during university breaks
- Mentoring and guidance from experienced industry professionals
- Practical, hands-on experience within a working mining environment
Who can apply?
We encourage applications from students who:
- Reside in Queensland
- Australian Citizen or Australian Resident
- Are currently studying - or intend to commence full-time study - in a mining-related tertiary qualification in 2027
- May study at a tertiary institution located anywhere in Australia
- Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the mining industry
- Demonstrate motivation, a commitment to learning and a strong work ethic
- Align with Kestrel’s values of One, Agile, Committed and Respectful
Relevant fields of study
Relevant qualifications may include, but are not limited to:
- Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical/Process or Geotechnical Engineering
- Geology
- Environmental Science
- Surveying
- Automation and Technology
- Other disciplines supporting mining operations
